Week of October 28-November 1

Happy Red Ribbon Week! We are having so much fun celebrating Red Ribbon week here at CRE with all of our fun themes each day. Make sure your students are participating in the daily themes! :) This week we are continuing to talk about matter and how it changes. We are also discussing how to describe shapes in math. The students have been understanding polygons, quadrilaterals, and right angles oh my! :) The students are really doing a great job with the material we have taught them so far. Make sure you are reading with your child each night and practicing their math facts. This will play a huge part in them being successful this year and maintain their understanding of previously taught material. Be on the look out for our Spring Creek Night next week at Spring Creek BBQ and help us support CRE by raising money and eating lots of food, yum!

Our student of the week for this week is Aidan. Aidan is known by his classmates for having a grin on his face and saying good job to classmates each day. He is very supportive and loves challenging himself in the classroom. He is a good sport on the soccer field and helps out whenever it is needed. Aidan makes a great candidate for student of the week for this week.

I hope you all have a great rest of your week! :)

Week of October 21-25

This week just flew by! A BIG thank you to all of you for making my birthday amazing! The students were so excited and were so thoughtful to remember :) Thank you to those of you that came out to support our Fall Festival. They raised so much money for our school largely in thanks to your participation! Without you this wouldn't have been such a huge success. Thanks for your continuous support! :)

Our student of the week for this week was Alona. Alona is valued by her peer students for her positive attitude and helpful characteristics. Alona enjoys all subjects and strives to try her best each day. She is beaming each day with a smile that could brighten anyone's day. Having her in our class this year is such a joy!

Have a great weekend!

Week of October 15-18

What a great week we are having in 2nd grade! We have been continuing to do experiments in science to help us understand more about how matter changes. We have also being learning about Christopher Columbus and what he did. The students have been reading Diary of a Spider and learning about cause and effect (What is a result of something else that happens). This weeks theme has had to do with spiders so be on the look out for "spider themed" activities in your child's Friday folder. Fall festival is Friday so please do not forget to come up and join us in the fun! :)

Our student of the week was Jaden. He is an intelligent student that loves to read. He is a hard worker that enjoys challenging himself each day. He is always willing to try new things and his classmates always enjoy having him in class. He has a great sense of humor and makes everyone enjoy learning!

Week of October 7-11

This week we learned about changing matter and how ice changes from a solid to a liquid form of water. We also did an activity where the students used different types of matter to combine in order to make something else. I will post pictures of what the students made soon! :) We started back our weekly stories and the students seem to really love this second story of Henry and Mudge that we were reading. We learned about how to double numbers in math and what that exactly means to do so. We touched on nouns the latter part of the week so talk with your child about examples they can give of common nouns (ex. girl, teacher, drink, store, school, etc). This week was very exciting and we are loving being in 2nd grade! :)

Our student of the week for this week was Sarina. She is a fun loving student that is extremely helpful each and everyday. She is a friend to all and is focused on doing her best on each thing we do at school. Her bright smile lightens the room each morning. Having Sarina in our class is such a joy!

Week of September 30- October 4

Wow this year is just flying by! :) We have been doing many great things in 2nd grade so far. We have been learning about the different types of matter (ask your child to tell you the 3 types... Answer: Solid, Liquid, and Gas). We have been working on addition and subtraction story problems, time, and coins in math. We have even began to start writing some great stories as well.  To say the least the students have been very hard at work and have been doing a fantastic job!

This weeks student of the week is Cortlen. He is a fantastic student with an eagerness to learn new things. He is always willing to helps others and continues to try his very best each and every day. His classmates say he also has some very good sportsmanlike characteristics on the soccer field. Needless to say, he is very deserving of our student of the week for this week.

*Don't forget the fundraiser that was sent home on Friday needs to be return on October 18th with the money that was collected. If no money was collected, then the coupon book still needs to be returned that day. Also, please do not send any collected money until the 18th. That is when we will be collecting everything back up. Thanks! :)

Thanks for your continuous support!
